Phonics

From November 2021 we have implemented the Read Write Inc programme for teaching systematic, synthetic phonics to all of our children from EYFS through to the end of Year 2.  The programme allows us to group children by their individual reading ability where they will work in small groups to develop their phonic knowledge, accuracy in word reading and fluency which includes using expression, intonation and improving comprehension skills. 

We have ensured that all of our classroom based staff have received the relevant, comprehensive training to fully support all pupils including those receiving intervention to support phonics/reading from Year 3 to Year 6. 

The following documents/links provide you as parents/carers, with key information including training videos to best support your child at home. Regular communication following assessments will be available throughout the year to allow you to know what progress your child is making.
