At the heart of our intent for the music curriculum at Lark Rise Academy is the desire to ensure that all children develop a lifelong love of music. We aim to provide a rich framework that nurtures the children’s musical understanding through the four key areas of learning: listening, singing, composing and performing. By ensuring the children have many opportunities to listen and appraise a diverse range of musical genres our hope is to enable our children to become creative and reflective musicians who in turn are able to find their own voices as singers and performers whilst also making connections with others. We aim to provide every child with the opportunities to develop the skills necessary to gain greater confidence in composing their own music and also self-expression over their time at school with us. We believe that enlightening the children in the many transferable skills that learning music in a deep and meaningful way can bring will help each child to realise their full potential while with us at Lark Rise.
