Modern Foreign Languages Intent
At Lark Rise, we feel that learning a foreign language is an essential part of being a member of a multi-cultural society and provides an opening to other cultures. Our high-quality, challenging and inclusive languages education will help to foster children’s curiosity, instil a love of languages and deepen their understanding of the world. The teaching of French from Year 3 through to Year 6 will enable children to progress their language skills and to express their ideas and thoughts in another language. It will also provide opportunities for children to be able to communicate for practical purposes, as well as to consider similarities and differences between cultures.
It is our intention to ensure that by the end of our children’s primary education at Lark Rise, they will have acquired an understanding of both spoken and written French, confidence to speak in French with others and have developed an understanding of how important language learning is in broadening their horizons.
