History Intent
At Lark Rise Academy our aim is for a high quality history education that will help pupils gain a well-rounded knowledge and understanding of Britain and that of the wider world; inspiring pupils’ curiosity to know more about the past.
We support children to develop a secure understanding of chronology, and through this they develop a sense of identity and a cultural understanding based on theirs and others historical heritage. The children learn to value their own and other people’s cultures in modern multicultural Britain. They will consider how people lived in the past, the legacies they left and understand how events in the past have influenced our lives today.
Together we investigate these past events and develop the skills of enquiry, analysis, interpretation and problem-solving to deepen our understanding.
Our curriculum provides children with the opportunities to ask perceptive questions, think critically, weigh evidence, sift arguments and develop perspective and judgement, learning History in an active and creative way.
We aim to promote a fascination of the past enabling children to enjoy all that history has to offer; developing knowledge about significant events in British history and to appreciate how things have changed over time.
