English Intent

At Lark Rise Academy, we offer a broad and inspirational English curriculum that instils a confidence in speaking, writing and a lifelong love of reading for pleasure. We enable children to become confident writers who develop their own individual flair. It is imperative that we teach our children the literacy skills that are crucial tools to access fundamental curriculum areas and participate fully as a member of society. Through our book-based curriculum, mapped to children’s progressive skills, we have created exposure to high quality, diverse literature that feeds their imagination and immerses our children in vocabulary-rich learning environments. Children are offered purposeful opportunities to read widely including that which reflects their interests and experiences. This creates confident readers, speakers and listeners with the comprehension abilities to unlock meaning in all texts and flourish as readers and writers.
