| Governing Body - About us (G) |
The Lark Rise Governing Body is here to support the school, its pupils, parents and teachers.
The role of school governors is best explained as being the 'critical friend' of the school. In the spirit of supporting the school we are also responsible for ensuring appropriate questions are raised and that challenge is given where we think improvement could be made.
Our key roles are to:
- Work with the school to promote high standards of educational attainment and take responsibility for the conduct of the school. We spend time in the school and give feedback on what we see.
- Manage the school's budget, including deciding on staffing numbers, pay and any significant investment requirements.
- Participate in the appointment of senior staff (including reviewing our head teacher, Mrs Attard) and regulate staff conduct and discipline.
- Work with the school on the action plan after any inspection by the Office for Standards in Education (OFSTED). And if they do happen (thankfully not that often) we deal with serious complaints fairly and objectively.
There are many ways that you can use to raise thoughts, issues and suggestions with the governors:
- Come speak to anyone of us you may know or see at the school.
- Use our newsletter site to leave public comments/views.
- Email us privately on governingbody@larkrise.beds.sch.uk
or, consider becoming a governor yourself. If you would be interested then please contact school reception who will explain more.
Your governors are very proud to be supporting what we all believe is an excellent school for the children learning with us. We will continue to work hard to see that standards remain exceptionally high and that your children are well developed and cared for.
